Karen Mukupa is unique on the Danish music scene. She started out in Denmark’s ever first girl/hip-hop/reggae group “No Name Requested” together with her old friend – the now late Natasja. As soloist she got heavy air-play with her albums “Mukupas law” and “2nd base”. On top of that Karen Mukupas has also worked as a tv-host, written children’s books and made a documentary on Natasja.
In 2009 she released the album “Dreamer”, where she returned to her musical base – the Reggae. Dreamer opened many doors for Miss Mukupa and she toured Germany and Finland amongst others.
Karen Mukupa is born in Zambia, raised in Tanzania and considers Danish, Kiswahili and English as her mother tongues. On her latest album “Human” her African heritage is more distinguished than ever. An authentic and warm sound that draws on elements from Hip-hop and soul as well.
“Human” will be released shortly after Karen Mukupas concert at Global. The concert is therefore the very first possibility to get hands on the new album, when Mukupa and band are selling it hot directly from stage…
